Job Summary
Apple's Internet Software & Services organization is seeking a passionate, driven and seasoned Engineering Manager who will play a central role in the development and delivery of the new Spotlight Suggestions search service. As a leader in our fast-paced group, you’ll have the unique and rewarding opportunity to shape the future of information search and discovery. We are looking for people with experience in creating high-performance, high-volume, data-focused Linux/Unix server side products. Experience in search technologies is a plus, but not required.
Key Qualifications
- 10 years minimum of industry experience, both as individual contributor and engineering manager
- 5 years minimum experience managing the development of a hosted Internet product
- 5 years minimum experience recruiting and leading a team of engineers
- 5 years minimum experience selecting and mentoring new graduates into effective individual contributors
- 8 years minimum experience w/ Linux, networking and systems programming, proficiency required
- 8 years minimum experience with common web service protocols: HTTP, SSL, Web, proficiency required
- Proficient service architecture skills
- Mastery of one of C++, Python or Java
Description
Lead a team of engineers to build components and processes of a search engine product Manage a portfolio of multiple projects, set priorities with measurable objectives Work closely with QA and OPS to oversee releases Contribute to the codebase as required Manage the tools team Work on Internationalization of product Effectively communicate status to senior management and program office
Education
- Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or closely related field, Master's degree strongly preferred
