| The ideal candidate demonstrates a system-level focus while understanding the impact of every component. Broad knowledge of and exposure to network protocols as well as embedded and real-time operating systems are essential for success in this role. Participate (may take on a lead role) on a project team of engineers involved in development of software for Cisco products. Requires use of a strong background in SW design, documentation and implementation, on projects that may include any of the following list of responsibilities: Design applications involving multi-platforms. Design and develop new software product features. Define product internal/external interfaces. Develop medium-complex, multiple modules of code independently. Write complete functional and design specs independently. Write portions of product spec. Lead development of subsystems. Perform complex system level tests. Solves complex problems at the system level. Typically requires MSEE/CS combined with 6-8+ years of related experience, or BSEE/CS combined with 7-9+ yrs related experience. In addition to SW Eng III: Ability to widely apply networking principles, theories and field concepts to product development and possession of working knowledge of related disciplines. Requires hands on experience with one or more of the LAN/WAN and network layer protocols. Ability to plan projects. Ability to solve complex problems involving multiple sub systems. Translates department goals into own work assignments. Independently determines and develops approach to solutions. Interfaces cross-functionally at the working team level. Customer resolution requires excellent communication skills. Mentors junior team members. In addition, the candidate must possess the following skills. - Ability to program in 'C' is a must. - Ability to program in assembly is preferable. - A good understanding of IOS/RTOS. - Good troubleshooting/debugging skills. - Low level system knowledge including drivers of LAN/WAN networking devices. - Exposure to networking protocols (preferably CarrierEthernet, MPLS, IP etc) 2) Exposure in embedded systems and real-time operating systems or Hand-on experience is writing device drivers; BIOS and firmware is added advantage 3) Hands on experience with one or more of the LAN/WAN technologies, mobile back haul or optical networking protocols. 4) Hands on experience in TDM/optical networking technologies e.g. T1/E1, SONET, SDH, DWDM, POS 5) Technical leadership to guide/mentor project team of engineers 6) strong background in SW design, architecture, and implementation *LI-APJ-SS1 |
