Basic Responsibilities
Is responsible for leading Comfort related projects in Technology and Advance Development group. Has full and complete responsibility for all major project phases: Discovery, Investigation, Feasibility and Applicability. Achieves project deliverables and executes to achieve project timing and cost.
Is capable of communicating effectively with management, has strong communications skills, demonstrates strength and drive to achieve project objectives, is able to make timely decisions and elevates them as appropriate.
Supports technical interactions with customers. Behaves in a manner consistent with JCI core values. Interfaces with JCI employees, suppliers and customers ensuring that good positive relations are maintained in all situations and environments. Is able to stimulate technical performance in fellow team members through example. Has solid analytical skills, is a proficient problem solver and solution provider. Is able to balance conflicting requirements and risk.
Leads and facilitates seat systems comfort research technologies to dev elop comfort tools, methods, requirements and guide lines. Research Comfort Seating trends, new technology, new concepts, new testing or other special request topics.
Collaborate regionally and globally with multiple groups within JCI, universities and OEM’s. Attend Industry meetings with automotive technical associations and societies and governmental bodies/regulatory agencies and other organizations to represent JCI.
Prepare detailed project plans, technical roadmaps, summary reports for management.
Some travel required: domestically and internationally. Must be legally authorized to work in United States ( Germany)
Specific Functions—Technical Responsibilities
· Ergonomic research focusing on occupant typology and ergonomic methodology for comfort assessment
· Knowledge of physical sciences, human biological sciences and engineering principles.
· Knowledge of various engineering research techniques, procedures, and methods.
· Profound analytical skills
· Team player with strong communicational skills
· Strong problem solving and technical skills
· Research, develop, and apply new technologies related to seat systems comfort
· Data compilation and assessment with comprehensive reporting
· Intellectual Property research and patent application work
· Occupant Comfort related Standards ( OEM’s, ISO, SAE, ECE, JASO, etc)
Specific Functions—Administrative Responsibilities
- Supports development of and meets the agreed-to budget for the project. Ensures customer scope is documented, budgeted and approved prior to commencement of activity.
- Executes, supports & follows JCI strategic directions/initiatives and Research Domain Process
- Provides input to management for program research status
- Provides input for annual performance reviews

Education Required
MS or PHD in one or multiple fields of: Biomedical Engineering, Industrial Anthropology, Bioscience, Ergonomics & Comfort

Driver and Consumer Research
Fluent in English (German)
